Hope Rises Ministries
How do you restore your heart after it’s been broken?
How do you feel whole again after your whole world has been shattered?
Is it possible to find beauty in the brokenness?
After 10+ years of working in youth and college ministry, I’m very aware of the struggles that young adults are going through. Unfortunately, date rape, body image, depression, and suicide are all extremely stigmatized topics. But they are very real issues that so many young adults are silently battling.
I’m Dana Marie, Nashville recording artist, speaker, and blogger, and I’ve got this crazy story.
After going through so much personal trauma, including being date raped, struggling with depression, a suicide attempt, and then later having my entire colon removed and living with a permanent ileostomy — all before the age of 24 — I definitely am no stranger to feeling shattered, broken, and like damaged goods.
I CALLED MYSELF BROKEN.
GOD CALLED ME WHOLE.
My mission is to inspire young adults to live fully and fearlessly, knowing with all of their being that they are loved, treasured and undeniably priceless. We live in a world that wants us to believe that our value comes from how we look and what we do, but God adores us because of who we are — His.
From my knees, I discovered that the world can break my heart, it can break my body, but it cannot break my spirit.
By sharing my story, I hope to inspire young adults to find the beauty within their own brokenness, become fearless in pursuit of what God has purposed for their lives, and rejoice in an all things faith.*
* an “all things” faith is based on Philippians 4:13: a faith that worships and rejoices no matter what, shackles on or shackles off. For we are free because of Him, no matter what perceived chains hold us down.
We all have something that we’re not proud of, something that we’re afraid will deem us unworthy if we were ever found out. We may not share the same type of adversity, but I do believe that we all have been to the same places in our hearts – loneliness, fear, shame, doubt.
It isn’t the adversity that defines us, but how we choose to respond to it.
Nothing gives me more joy or purpose than sharing how I rose out of the ashes and found peace, confidence, and joy from placing my identity in Christ. I truly believe that my God purposed me to help young people to do the same.
In a combination of storytelling and music, I have confidence that your community will leave feeling inspired and emboldened in their walk with Christ!
